March Favourites

So my 30 day blog post challenge came to an end when I completed day 30 yesterday. Although I was sad that that part of my blog had come to an end, i’m incredibly excited for the upcoming posts that I wish to blog about. Today, I thought i’d do my very first ‘favourites’ blog post because I’ve read so many blogs that have theres that I thought i’d tell you all about the beauty products that I have been loving recently.

ImageAbove is the pictures of all the products I have been loving recently. They vary from make up products, to nail varnish, to hair products so I hope you enjoy this post!

Lee Stafford Bleach Blondes Shampoo – Oh my gosh, I absaloutely love this hair product. I bleach my hair A LOT which doesn’t do my hair much good so i decided that I wanted to stop bleaching it as much to give my hair a break in the hope that it will become healthier again. However, when I stopped dying and bleaching my hair blonder I found that every so often my hair would be come a brassy yellow-y colour which I really disliked so I looked into some things that I could buy which would knock out the horrible colours without damaging my hair. And thats when I came across this little miracle. When you first put the shampoo on its quite scary because its literally the bright purple colour that it looks on the picture and I must admit I was slightly scared to put this on my bleached hair but once you lather it in and rinse it out it leaves no purple behind but completely restores the blondeness in your hair. It recommends on the back that you don’t use this product in your regular routine and so I literally only use it when I feel that my hair needs it and it does the trick perfectly. So any bleach blondes out there HAVE to buy this product, its great.

Lee Stafford Hair Growth – Shampoo and Conditioner – I realise that I sound rather obsessed with the Lee Stafford products but honestly, they are absaloutely amazing and I wish i’d have discovered them a lot sooner. When I first saw this product I didn’t really believe what it said it was going to do but because there was like a 3 for 2 deal on at boots I thought i’d give them a whiz and I am so glad that I did because I literally use this product every time I wash my hair. Obviously, my hair didn’t grow like a foot in length after the first use but it has definitely gotten significantly longer. Like I said earlier, a couple of years ago I stupidly decided to dye my hair brown and then a few months later realised how much I hated it and literally bleached my hair completely back to it was before which left my hair ultra damaged and dry. So it took a while for my hair to look healthier again and for it to grow which is why I bought this product and it has definitely grown a few inches in the last few months that I have had it which i’m incredibly pleased with. Plus, both the shampoo and conditioner smell amazing and leave a gorgeous scent in your hair, its beautiful!

Soap and Glory – Clean on me – I hadn’t really used Soap and Glory before until a friend bought me a box of mini Soap and Glory products, and even then I had them sitting in the box looking pretty before I actually started using them a couple of months ago. This ‘Clean on me’ shower gel stood out the most for me because it feels completely cleansing on the skin and smells amazing. It also works well in the bath with the amount of bubbles it creates and i’m a sucker for a hot bubble bath hahaha

No.7 Stay Perfect Foundation – I only recently started using this and its far better than the others i’ve used and a fraction of the cost. I began using MAC foundation last year and I was literally obsessed with it but when the new No.7 Stay Perfect Foundation was advertised with its fancy little checker thing I really wanted to give it a try to see if it was as good for the £14 and it totally is. I’m so impressed with this product, It feels so light on your face and doesn’t even feel like you have make up on when you first apply it unlike other foundations that I have tried. It also has good coverage although I do still use concealer, it wouldn’t be a big problem if I ran out of it because it does hide the redness of spots and blemishes. It also is really easy to blend and lasts all day. The only problem is that you have to use quite a few squirts so it probably will run out quicker but i’m still on my first bottle and I’ve had it for a while now. I love this foundation and will definitely be buying it again.

Elizabeth Arden Bronzing Powder Duo – I bought this product a while ago when I was on the plane which is slightly odd but the price was amazing as you got the bronzing duo, eye shadow duo, a brush and a lipgloss for about £20 which I thought was a really good price for the amount of things you get for your money. This bronzing powder has a light shade and dark shade with a shimmer to it and it looks so beautiful when applied and it is perfect for contouring. I use this product as part of my make up routine every day and it never fails to look nice.

MAC Mineralize Blush – Dainty – I absaloutely LOVE this blush. I bought this product for my prom and the lady at the counter matched my make up and found shades that were suitable for my skintone. This colour looks quite bright but it blends beautifully and this also has a bit of a shimmer to it and therefore looks good with every day casual make up, yet also looks classy when dressing up smart. I use it everyday and yet it doesn’t seem to have gone down at all in the little case so its definitely a product that will last a while and worth the price.

MAC Mineralize Skin Finish – Soft and Gentle – As you might be able to tell I went a bit crazy at the MAC counter before my prom and bought all sorts but this is amazing! It adds a shimmer and an amazing glow to your face when you have finished your routine and just completes it. I haven’t been wearing it everyday because I don’t want to use it all up so quick and so I save it for when i’m going somewhere to add to my look. I love this product and will be so sad when its all gone!

BarryM Fine Glitter Dust – This glitter dust is just perfect and I wear it every time I go out to add a bit of a sparkle to my eyes. I only use it when i’m going out because it does definitely stand out on your eyes and is more of a ‘dressy’ kind of make up product so would probably look too over the top for a little trip to the shop. It is so pretty though and I really want to purchase some more colours in it that would be suitable for an every day wearing.

Rimmel Nail Polish – Metal Rush – I have been wearing this polish so much recently because it just fascinates me. The colour changes from silver, to purple, to green, depending on the light that its in and it looks so shimmery and beautiful. The nails only need one coat when using the product so doesn’t take too much faffing about and looks so pretty with a glitter top coat (I do this all the time because it looks like stars hahaha). It is so easy to apply and wearable with every outfit possible due to the changing colour, i absaloutely love it.

Day 30 – Somewhere you’d like to move to or visit

So this is the last post of the 30 day blogging challenge. I realise that this post was supposed to be posted yesterday but this weekend has been so busy that I’ve only just turned on my laptop. However, I would like some ideas of what topics I should blog about this month so please drop a comment anywhere!

So there are two ideal places that I would love to visit or live and these are Ireland and Australia. And yes, I know they are like two completely different extremes on opposite sides of the world but they both look amazing places to live.

Ireland because of the amazing views and amounts of greenery and countryside. But more importantly because of the A-MA-ZING accent, its just great! I’d be extremely disapointed if I hadn’t picked up the accent so I think I’d have to live there for quite a while hahaha

Also, Australia because of the amazing weather – living in a place without the horrible weather would be great! Also its just a completely different lifestyle which would be fascinating to live in and adapt to. I’d love to see the different cultures and everyday lives in different parts of the world and Australia definitely appeals to me.

Hopefully one day I’ll get to visit these places and maybe even live there for a few years if i’m lucky! fingers crossed hahaha

Which places would you like to visit? Drop a comment with your ideal places and some blog post ideas if you’re feeling ultra nice today hahaha

Day 28 – Something/Someone that you miss

miss you
picture stolen from pinterest – as per usual

Something that I miss is school – and I never actually ever thought that i’d say that. Whilst I was there all I did was wish the days on because I just couldn’t wait to leave and not go back but now I’d actually give anything to go back again for another year. I’ll admit year 7 was awful, it was the year you had to try and make an impression on everyone to get friends and aim for a good reputation and I made some slightly different friends which didn’t turn out great and I haven’t actually spoken to them since but in year 8 I made the best friends who I am still so close with now. Year 8 was definitely my best year. However, in year 9 I got split up from those friends and made new ones but year 9 was definitely the year I grew up a bit and had more of a laugh rather than trying to make friends – my empty year 9 geography book just says it all hahahaha. The last two years were more of an up and down, I didn’t enjoy year 10 so much because it was the first year I would sit some of my GCSE’s and the stress finally hit me and I worried about it a lot more than I needed to meaning the outcome of my results didn’t make me the happiest. But in year 11, I resat the exams I didn’t excel in and did a lot better than I expected and I was so so happy. Year 11 was definitely the best/stressful/saddest school year, I loved the responsibility we got and the ability to have a laugh and a joke with teachers and friends, but we had quite a few exams which I think I handled much better. Then we left, and I cried. The summer holidays that year were great because I just thought ‘NO MORE SCHOOL’, little did I know that college would be pretty much the same, but worse.

I really do wish that I could go back to school for year 8 onwards and not have a day off and enjoy every single day because I do miss it so much. When I drive past or see the school kids walking home I wish I was them hahaha. I also miss the friends that I made who I ended up losing touch with from going to different colleges or chosing different subjects meaning I hardly see them. The teachers as well, some teachers I hated and i’m glad I left them behind, but others I miss so much because over the last 5 years seeing the same teachers over and over you become familiar with them and when suddenly they aren’t there to turn to its rather difficult.

So basically I miss my school days, which is even surprising to me. – I miss the time table, the lessons, the teachers, all the people in it, the familiarity, and my close friends. EVERYTHING.

If you’re reading this and are still in school hating every minute of it. DON’T! ENJOY IT or you’ll regret it afterwards – trust me on that one.

Day 25 – Something that I’m proud of

When I first like at this I struggled to think of something that I was proud of. I thought that was scary and quite sad that I hadn’t done one thing that I was proud of. But that was just it, there’s not just one thing that I am proud of yet. I’m only 16 so it’s not like I’ve fully lived my life yet and these years just allow you to live, have fun and build up to that one thing in your life that you are incredibly proud of.

However, although I don’t just have one thing there is just one small thing that I’m proud of so far and that’s just me. I might sound vain and big headed but why shouldn’t I be allowed to be proud of myself? I’m proud of the fact I grew up with some amazing people. I’m proud of myself for making the friends I did. I’m proud of how organised I am. And in particular I’m proud of my 14 A*-C’s that I achieved at GCSE last year and the important decisions and changes in my life that I have made recently making me become the happy and independent self that I am and I am incredibly proud of myself for that.

So to conclude, I am proud of myself and that’s all that matters at 16. With my pride I can do and achieve anything and not let anything get in the way. Any changes I need to make, I’ll do because I always want to remain the happy, proud person that I am now.

Day 23 – Your zodiac/horoscope and if it fits your personality

ImageAs usual I got my picture from Pinterest.

I haven’t ever actually looked into my horoscope/zodiac really until writing this post and its actually quite interesting in the similarities that it actually tells you to who your person actually is. So I googled it and ended up on this website which told me some of the qualities that people with the Zodiac ‘Cancer’ often share and it can be surprising with the accuracy whether the information is completely fictional or not.

The first thing that I picked up on was that it told me that Cancer’s are usually ‘over-reactive and moody’, as much as I don’t want to admit it.. it could be true I suppose. I do over-react if my brothers annoy me, or if something shocks me or scares me and I am definitely one to exagerate the whole situation when telling the tale back to someone. If i’m in an incredibly bad mood and someone annoys me I can completely over-react to the point of shouting and crying.. but only on my bad days hahahaha

It also said ‘you adapt when you have to, but you much prefer to make changes on your own terms’ and this totally relates to me. I hate when someone/something changes something in my day to day life without me having an opinion or given any control in what happens – hate it. I prefer so much more being in control of my own life and make a change if I feel that its right or better for me. A very minor example was at college, in one of my subjects the teacher changed the whole seating plan so he moved us next to people we barely knew – I went through with it and coped with the lessons but I hated it so much. However, in one of my other subjects I asked the teacher if I could move somewhere else so I could concentrate and because I was in control of the ‘change’ I was perfectly fine.

‘Creative enterprises are a great way to make the most of your moods and your imagination. Music and writing are perfect vehicles for you. You can express the inner part of your being as entertaining literary, art or music pieces.’ This could also fit my personality because I have music on my ipod that fits every one of my moods so if i’m feeling sad then I listen to slow songs so I can feel sorry for myself just a little bit longer hahaha and if i’m feeling energetic and lively then I just listen to more of an upbeat song then dance and sing at the top of my voice around my room – you know, because I can. I also love writing too, hense the massive amounts of writing i’ve done so far on this post (I apologise if you lost interest in this post a while back but I like to talk, oh and if you’ve reached this far with interest then WELL DONE, might as well carry on – maybe even like the post and give me a follow whilst your at it).

You love to collect or keep mementos — such as scrapbooks and other bits and pieces — that bring back memories of good times and people you care about. You have a great memory, not just for facts, but also any good turn or kindness you’ve received. – I do this too! I am obsessed with keeping little things such as train tickets, concert things, pictures etc, and sticking them in my scrapbook or putting them on my wall so I can look through later on and smile at the great memories i’ve spent with people I love. On the last day of High School I also took a little book with me and let all my close friends write a little message in there for me with our memories and things and I love reading through it (even if it does make me sad reading memories from people I’m no longer close with). But for most outings i’ve had I have a little thing that reminds me of the day whether it is just a boring little ticket, a drinks mat, or an amazing picture from the night to preserve a great memory.

Day 21 – Five guys whom I find attractive

Nice little collage made my me of course hahaha of the top five guys that I find attractive. Just in case you don’t recognise any of them I’ve put the names below.

Five guys who I find attractive

  1. Liam Hemsworth
  2. Chris Milligan (Kyle Canning from Neighbours)
  3. Zac Efron
  4. Channing Tatum
  5. Niall Horan (who definitely waved at me last weekend, hahaha)

Day 20 – My Family

One reason why I wanted to do the blogging challenge was because it allowed the blogging world to learn some things about me before I began to blog the things that I wanted to do. Sort of like an introduction to myself so I think a post about my Family is perfect to do this. I won’t bore you all with massive paragraphs about each and every member of my family because theres too much to say about them all and I love every one of them just as much. But this will be a little post about my family that I live with which is my Mum, Dad and two brothers, Bradley and Jordan.

Above is the family that I live with and without them I’d be lost. This was the day we ventured out for a meal in a Limo for my Mums 50th birthday (12/12/12). My Mum and Dad are supportive and caring all the time and are successful in everything they do, i’m so glad I got the two most perfect people as my parents. I have two brothers Bradley and Jordan who I love so so much. Bradley is a Piano Technician and is amazing on every instrument going – piano, guitar, harmonica, ukelele etc and Jordan is a trainee accountant but both are full time typical big brothers ~ incredibly annoying and slightly strange, but my best friends that I love so much.

A little collage of old and recent pictures of my family which capture all our closeness and our weirdness. And in the top left corner my Grandad Jack just sneaks into the college, a picture taken from my prom which I love so much.

..And not forgetting our baby 7 month old Maltese Terrier, Sully.

Day 19 – Put your Ipod on shuffle and write down the first 10 songs that play.

Well isn’t this exciting. I’m currently sat all prepared with my earphones in ready to start this little post. However, I must warn you all before this that my taste in music can be incredibly embarassing as I love a good cringey song every once in a while 😉

1. Elton John – Electricity.

You’ve gotta love a little bit of Elton every once in a while haven’t you?

I downloaded this song purely from watching my all time favourite childhood film, Eldorado. This film is a classic and i’m pretty sure the director of the film was a bit of a fan of Elton John to be honest. Its just one of those songs that you can sing at the top of your voice and sound amazing in your head.. well, I do anyway.

2. Taylor Swift – I Knew You Were Trouble.

This song is just great for a little party in your head. Rumour has it the song was about Harry Styles – tut tut. But everyone loves Taylor and her angry emotional songs though.

3. Scouting For Girls – Love How It Hurts.

Aw, I actually haven’t listened to this song in a while but I remember being obsessed with it.

4. The Wanted – Glad You Came.

oooooh The Wanted are just too perfect. This is a perfect song for a little holiday jam next to the pool whilst you attempt to get a tan 😉

5. Busted – Air Hostess.

Oh my gosh I am so glad this song came on. I have and always will be obsessed with Busted. I don’t think I will ever get over the fact that I never got to see them on tour before they split up, and is it sad that I actually cried when they announced it? hahahaha. I am still holding on to the hope that they will do a little reunion tour. Fingers crossed.

6. B.O.B – Airplanes.

What a coincidence that this comes on after Air Hostess ey! Think its a sign that I need to go on holiday I think? 😉

7. Daniel Powter – Bad Day.

Where is the moment we needed the most? You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost

This song is just one of those perfect songs that you play when you’re feeling sad and in need of a good cry for no apparent reason.

8. Of Monsters And Men – Sloom.

This song is such a relaxing song that you can just listen to as you do your other things. One of those songs where you can just listen to the story behind it. Love it!

9. The Lumineers – Slow It Down.

Again, this is one of those songs to listen to when you’re down really. I must admit that I had to skip this song so I didn’t get incredibly depressed by the slow and down tone of it hahaha I apologise.

10. Justin Bieber – Boyfriend.

Hahahahahaha oh dear, I’m sorry for the incredibly bad taste in this song. But I literally only downloaded for the ‘I’d like to be everything you want’ bit at the start of the song because to be quite honest I can sing that perfectly (not). But I have to say that his little attempt of rapping is incredibly bad and cringey. But a bit of Justin does no harm!

However, his appearance in the UK recently didn’t really go down well did it? So he has gone down in my books a tiny bit. Sorry Justin 😉

I hope this has given you a little insight into the very different range of songs that I currently have on my ipod. Leave a comment with the cringey songs that appear on your music playlists

30 Day Blogging Challenge: Day 18 – How important you think education is

Yes, education is important to some extent but purely because it allows you to develop your own personalities, learn to cope by yourself and not depend on your parents as much, but most importantly because without school I wouldn’t have ever made the amazing friends that I have.

In my opinion the most important years are Primary School and Secondary School as they show you both the basics and significant things you need to learn in life. But does what we learn actually relate to real life? For example in Science I learnt the periodic time-table, all about different chemical reactions and forces but have I ever actually had to use this information that I spent so long revising? No. In Maths, we learnt algebra but have I ever been in a serious situation where I needed to work out the value of x? Again, no. So the actually education is actually no use to me in real life at all. I get that in some subjects you learn important things that everybody should be aware of such as History, Geography and English because without them you wouldn’t know about the history of the world, about things that take place in different countries and places, or even how to write a letter which do come in handy every once in a while.

But aside from learning these very limited handy things and from making the most amazing friends and memories what else does education have to offer? I loved Primary School and High School but i’m going to be perfectly honest and say that I absaloutely hated college. I thought that the whole experience was incredibly over-rated and just seemed to cause unnecessary stress which just wasn’t worth the wasted energy at all. The lessons seemed to drag and it got to the point where I really didn’t enjoy it there and actually dreaded going every morning. Not because of anything inparticular but just because the work that I was doing wasn’t enjoyable or interesting in any way.

Although, people would argue that without A-levels and a degree then you can’t do well in life or get a good job but who says I can’t be successful just because I don’t have those four irrelevant qualifications? Theres plenty of famous entrepreneurs that if you actually looked into their background they would have no qualifications and have set up their dream business by themselves and are now earning millions. So, give me the time and I will be one of those people who earns so much money, is happy, and is incredibly successful at what I do – and i’ll show those people that their judgements and predictions are wrong.

Also, If you actually think about it the exams nowadays are just a test of memory. Who can actually remember the exact information they were tested on in year 7? Because I certainly can’t and I left school in July 2012 and I have forgotten a third of the things that I was taught purely because I revised so much before the exam that I could just write it all down on the paper and after the exam I could cross it off my list and forget about it. So in the real world if hypothetically I got a degree in Science, how would I possibly be able to do well in that job if within a year most of the things i’ve learnt were no longer stored in my memory, it would be incredibly difficult to do a job where I have forgotten most of the vital information needed to do it. So, in the same amount of time it would take me to go to college and get a degree and anything else that you apparently need to ‘be successful’ I could have been to work, got experience and learned the roles and the REAL information needed for a job. Surely experience is far better than a piece of paper that just leaves you with mega student debts?

I realise I’ve just had a rant for like a million pages but i’ve just completely expressed my opinion and I do understand that everyone will have different opinions and will disagree with me but in no way did I mean to upset anyone as I am entitled to my own opinion too. I hope you enjoy reading my little argument and hopefully you will appreciate my views on the ‘education’ subject hahaha 🙂
